The Western Veil Nebula — the glowing remains of a star that exploded thousands of years ago.
What you’re seeing here is part of a shockwave still expanding through space… and it spans about 6 full moons across the sky — you just can’t see it with your eyes because it’s so faint.
Captured from my backyard in New Jersey using a Seestar S30 Pro — its wide field makes it perfect for massive targets like this — with an L-Extreme filter isolating hydrogen (red) and oxygen (blue) through suburban skies.
This is my first capture (~2.5h integration)/post processing (Siril) of this subject, second night with the S30 Pro. want wait to see what more hours of exposure and effort can add!
